Well hello there! Welcome to our new website! We’re so glad you’re here to join us on our journey :) We’ve set up this website in order to make it as easy as possible for everyone to access our journey updates. Instead of our posts getting lost in Facebook feeds or accidentally forwarded to junk mail, we thought a website would be suitable for all ages. (However we do still plan on posting on Facebook to let everyone know when we’ve updated the site!)
So! When the heck are we leaving??? The current plan is to start on the road early on the morning of Saturday, May 31st. By this time, Halle’s school year will be over, Jake’s year of remote work will be beginning, and Mickey (Halle’s cat) will be wondering what the hell is going on. You read that right, Mickey is tagging along on the journey! Let us know in the comments if you have any advice on traveling in a car for long distances with a cat!
Before we get to the Big Apple, we’ll be making a quick pit stop in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Here, we’ll stay at Jake’s mom’s house for the night, ultimately leaving the car there for the month of June. Driving in New York City is a skill that neither of us wants to hone, plus who needs a car when you can just take the subway? Our NYC AirBNB has been booked for a while now, and we’ve actually secured all of our AirBNBs (except Austin!) through December at this point. Feel free to browse around and explore the site as it’s still under construction! The About section includes some frequently asked questions as well as the story of how the journey came to be. The Places section includes information about all of our 12 destinations as well as details/pictures of our lodgings for each stop. Elsewhere on the site are a map of our full route as well as a calendar detailing our travel schedule.
Well, that’s all we’ve got so far! Our Bon Voyage party is set for Saturday, April 26th at Jake’s place in Logan Square. We hope to see you there if you can make it! Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.
